I got the recipe from here: Cupcake Project
I changed my recipe a little because I don't use sugar or vegetable oils. I use honey in place of the sugar with a pinch of baking soda, and butter in place of the oils since vegetable oils are highly processed.
I made half the recipe in my bullet blender and then the other half because all of it would not fit in my blender all at once. If you have a food processor, then you should be able to make the entire recipe at once. So here is how I made it.
Ingredient:
2 cups Whole White Wheat flour
3 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp honey
1 pinch of baking soda
1/2 tsp (if you like salty crackers, you can add a pinch more) + another 1/2 tsp salt for topping (sea salt is best)
6 tbsp cold unsalted butter + 5 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1/3-2/3 cup water
1. Preheat oven to 400 F.
2. Put the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and 1/2 tsp of salt in the food processor or bullet blender.
3. Pulse to combine.
4. Add cold butter a few small pats at a time, and pulse to combine.
5. Pour all pulsed ingredients into a bowl.
6. Add honey and melted butter. Mix with a fork.
7. Add water a little bit at a time. Mix to combine after each addition. The dough should start to form a ball.
8. Roll dough out as thin as you can if you want crispy. I rolled mine out to just about a millimeter thick and it was fine.
9. Use cookie cutters to cut the dough out. You can make them Ritz-shaped or any shape that you like.
10. Poke holes in the dough in the Ritz pattern or any pattern you like. (Keep in mind that the holes are not just decorative; they help the crackers to bake correctly - so be sure to poke some.)
11. Bake the crackers on a parchment or straight on the pan for 7 to 10 minutes or until the crackers just begin to brown. I followed the original recipe and put my timer on 10 minutes and when the timer went off, my crackers were burnt. So watch them after 5 minutes or so. Mine took 7-8 minutes usually, but it depends on the thickness you rolled out your dough to.
12. While the crackers are baking, melt some butter and mix in the remaining salt.
13. As soon as you remove the crackers from the oven, brush them with the salty butter.
14. Cool and eat!
